Professional Background

2004-2008 Senior Vice President, IT Portfolio Management, Visa Inc. Nancy created and managed the process Visa used to plan, prioritize and fund investments in the global computer systems that process Visa card transactions. Order of magnitude $150+ million/yr.

The role required working and communicating effectively with teams across the Visa IT organization, senior and executive IT management, and Visa operating regions worldwide. Together, they planned, prioritized, funded, and monitored 300+ projects per year.

Nancy managed relationships with global governance councils (executive and senior management), liaising on portfolio funding and project performance. This included Board-level reporting.

She also managed a team of 35+ professionals responsible for supporting the US Region's IT project portfolio and maintaining Visa's systems development project management methodology.

2001-2004 Vice President — Account Management, Visa Inc. Nancy was the London-based IT Account Manager for the EU and CEMEA Regions of Visa International. She was the regions' liaison to/from the California-based IT organization.

Her role was to facilitate communication at all levels, and to facilitate problem resolution. She was the regions' point of escalation.

During this time, Nancy also co-managed the OCB Transition Project. Sponsored by the Board, this high-risk, strategic project resulted in management responsibility of Visa Operations Center — Basingstoke (OCB), transitioning to the EU Region (now Visa Europe).

1998-2000 Faculty Member, Ashridge Business School. Nancy lectured in the Ashridge MBA programs (full- and part-time) in Berkhamsted, England. She was Subject Leader — IT Management and Decision Science, and MBA Project Director. She also taught on many Open and Tailored management development programs.

Client companies included Lufthansa Cargo, Deutsche Bank, Merck, the UK Ministry of Defence, BNFL, and others from (mostly) Europe.

1982 - 1996 Various Titles, Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Prior to moving to Europe, Nancy spent thirteen years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). Roles included:

  • Director of Strategic Projects, Packaged Software Group.
  • Global Product Manager — FOUNDATION INSTALL/1 CASE tool software.
  • Central Region Manager for FOUNDATION Software Marketing and Sales Support.
  • Southwest Region IDMS database expert. Provided IDMS expertise and training to multiple Andersen offices and client projects on request, in addition to full-time consulting project role.
  • Consulting Senior Manager, Systems Integration practice. Managed project teams and client relationships. Industries: Federal, State Government.
  • Consultant, Systems Integration: Design, development and project management of large-scale, database-oriented, transaction processing systems. Industries: Oil & Gas, Telephone Utilities, Health Care.
  • Frequent instructor in Andersen's renowned, worldwide training program (systems design, programming & project management).

Nancy was named a National Merit Scholar, 1974.

Stanford University. Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM) certification, 2008.

Nancy studied writing with Longridge Writers' Group and copywriting with American Writers & Artists Inc. (AWAI). She is an active member of AWAI's Circle of Success, and The Professional Writers' Alliance.

Nancy has lived and worked in every major region of the United States; Calgary, Canada; Paris, France; Berkhamsted and London, England. Her professional business background included intercultural education — management — and communication.

 

Personal Interests

Nancy enjoys cooking, growing herbs and tomatoes, reading and traveling. She speaks and continues to study French, which she hopes to master someday!
